Distillery Bonaventura Maschio (Gaiarine, Treviso) is the main sponsor for Taglia Corti 2015. In addition to sponsoring the Best Professional Short Movie award, they will support young people’s creativity with a contest for our Italian finalists, who will make a one-minute short movie in their own personal style about the values and soul of the Prime Uve distillates, their main product. It will be a great opportunity for our directors to test themselves in a semi-professional contest, aimed to connect young directors and companies. The winner will receive € 300 in prize money and his video will be played on the final night.
The directors that will take part in this contest will work on the company values, described in the following quote by Andrea and Anna Maschio:
“Our family has worked with the art of distillation in Italy for five generations. For more than a century we focused our efforts on the production of grappa, the distilled marc typical of our territory. Grappa comes from a raw waste material, called indeed marc, and its charm lies precisely in this quality: the pleasant and exquisite product is derived from waste and poor material. Lately the passion for our profession led us to the research of new ways, new products, derived from a different raw material and able to give us new goals we never dreamed of before. Grape, in its entirety, represents the best choice and it is our key to a universe of values and creative possibilities that marc alone could not offer.
For the Prime Uve distillates the territory is fundamental, the specific vineyard that nourished the bunch of grapes, its exposure to the sun, its ability to absorb the local fragrance and reflect its year. It also reflects the character of the local population because that is what main fragrances do: radiant or rustic, sharp or soft.
We are all accustomed to thinking in this way of wine: with the distillates, tradition led us to expect more generic sensation, less articulated. This is the revolution of the grape in still: it gives us the opportunity to find in a single transparent drop all the emotions and fragrances of a territory. This is the suggested theme: the gift of transferring in a different form the essence of its origins as a whole. Find the soul of the starting point and recreate it in a new place.”
